Settings Scenes

When poems, related as kin
Are rejected,
And claims by insurance companies denied;
Love letters returned,
Stamped,
Addressee unknown in
Red letters;
And
Emails are coughed up like
Regurgitated catfish
Hairballs;
Delicate little feelings bruised
As rose petals
After a parade;
Are dreams dashed,
Or merely recycled
As they drain from
Our ears
As we lie
On our sides
On green lawns
Watching the contrails
Bisect the sky?

Carol Corke: Living in the scenic Hill Country of Central Texas, Carol Corke draws inspiration from nature much as diviners draw water from the bedrock. When not actively plying her craft, Carol can be found attempting to hammer out the kinks in an admittedly quirky life. Writing remains her favorite vice.  email: Carol Corke
